Ductile Iron Backing Ring

Raw Materials: Ductile Iron to ASTM A536 Gr64/45/12
Diameter : 1 inch – 24 inch
Surface finish : Painted, Fusion bounded epoxy resin

Ductile Iron Backing Ring connection is to fix two pipes, pipe fittings or equipment on a flange respectively, then add a flange gasket between the two flanges, and finally tighten the two flanges with bolts to make them tightly combined. This connection method is suitable for cast iron pipes, rubber lined pipes, non-ferrous metal pipes and flange valves, etc., and is also widely used in the connection of process equipment.

Ductile Iron Backing Rings( Flanges) are used with HDPE/PP stub end and flange adaptors, and have adavantages of higher strength, less weight and anti corrosion.etc.

Difference between Ductile Iron Backing Ring and a Steel Flange

Ductile Iron Backing Ring is usually used in some low-pressure, low-temperature, general working conditions pipeline systems, and has good wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Cast iron materials are often used in some cost-sensitive application scenarios due to their low cost. In addition, Ductile iron flange exhibits good wear resistance and corrosion resistance in specific environments, making it a more economical choice in some specific applications. However, Ductile iron flange has poor toughness and is easy to break, which may become a limiting factor in some applications. In contrast, although Steel Flanges are more expensive, they have better strength and toughness and are suitable for high pressure and high temperature environments. The strength and toughness of Steel Flanges make them more suitable in applications that require greater safety and durability.

 

The choice between Ductile Iron Backing Ring and Steel Flanges depends on the specific application requirements, including cost, working environment, safety requirements and other factors. When considering the advantages of Ductile iron flange, its limitations and possible alternatives should also be considered to ensure that the selected material can meet specific engineering needs.‌‌
