HDPE fusion fittings

HDPE fusion fittings are special connecting fittings that are heated to the melting point when connecting PE pipes. This type of fitting can achieve connections with different requirements such as the same outer diameter, different outer diameters, tees, bends, etc., and is a must for connecting HDPE pipes. The main material of HDPE fusion fittings is also high-density polyethylene, which is the same as the material of HDPE pipes, ensuring the reliability and compatibility of the connection.

The role of HDPE fusion fittings

The main role of HDPE fusion fittings is to connect and fix HDPE pipes to ensure the integrity and sealing of the system. ‌

HDPE fusion fittings, including hot-melt fittings and electric-melt fittings, play an important role in polyethylene pipe systems. ‌These fittings connect HDPE pipes tightly together through a fusion connection to form a continuous fluid transmission channel. ‌This connection method not only ensures the sealing of the pipeline system but also enhances the pressure resistance and long-term stability of the pipeline.

Connection methods of HDPE fusion fittings

Hot-melt connection:

Butt fusion: Heat the end faces of two HDPE water supply pipes to a softened state, and then press them together to form a uniform fusion joint. This method is simple to operate and has a high joint strength, but it requires high skills from the operator.

Sleeve fusion: Connect two HDPE water supply pipes together through a hot-melt sleeve. After the inner and outer surfaces of the sleeve are heated to a softened state, they are cooled under pressure. It is suitable for HDPE water supply pipes with smaller diameters.

Electric fusion connection: Connect HDPE water supply pipes together through an electric fusion pipe fitting with a resistance wire. During the connection process, the current passes through the resistance wire to heat the pipe fitting, so that the pipe fitting and the pipe are fused together. This method is suitable for HDPE water supply pipes of various diameters, has good sealing performance and high-strength joints, but has high requirements for the stability of the power supply. ‌

In addition, there are other connection methods, such as mechanical connection and adhesive connection, but the sealing and strength of these methods may be slightly lower than those of hot melt and electric fusion connection. ‌When choosing a connection method, factors such as the diameter of the pipe, the use environment, and the project budget need to be considered. ‌For larger-diameter HDPE water supply pipes, hot melt butt welding, and electric fusion connection is ideal choices, while smaller-diameter HDPE water supply pipes can consider sleeve welding, electric fusion connection, and adhesive connection as feasible options.

Difference

The main difference between hot melt pipe fittings and electric fusion pipe fittings lies in the different connection methods. ‌Hot melt pipe fittings are connected by heating to melt the pipe ends, while electric fusion pipe fittings melt the pipe ends by electric heating, thereby achieving a fast and reliable connection. ‌

In engineering applications, electric fusion pipe fittings are more popular with users because they are less affected by the external environment and human factors and have better reliability. ‌Especially in gas pipe projects, electric fusion pipe fittings are increasingly used, thanks to their stable performance and reliable connection effect.‌
